What is Hand Therapy?

To return to a high level of daily functioning, hand therapy is a common treatment practice. Hand therapy follows the science of evaluating and treating injuries and conditions that impact the upper extremities. This includes shoulders, arms, elbows, forearms, wrists, and hands.

Both occupational and physical therapists offer hand therapy. This treatment plan offers non-operative interventions and post-surgical rehabilitation for a wide variety of upper extremity disorders and discomforts. Our therapists employ a variety of techniques and tools, including exercise programs, custom orthotic fabrication, pain, and swelling management, as well as wound and scar care.
