THERAPEUTIC TAPING

Therapeutic Taping, also known as Kinesiology Taping, is a method of treatment offered by our physical therapists.

The Therapeutic Taping process is simple – it involves a special tape placed on your body to ease muscle tension, improve movement and support your joints. Unlike athletic tape, kinesiology tape promotes movement rather than restriction. This additional movement helps to improve circulation and promotes healing, pain relief and more. Therapeutic Taping and other Physical therapy Services are now available at our location.

How Does Therapeutic Taping Work?

Goals of Therapeutic Taping:

On the surface, kinesiology tape is simply pulling at the outer epidermis. However, it is more than just the surface effects. As the tape pulls on the outer skin, the muscles and tissue underneath begin to have increased blood flow. This helps to decrease pain and muscle spasms. Increased blood flow creates balance in the neural circuitry within tissues, muscles, and joints. This tape is seen as a useful tool in the realignment of joint positions after injury.

  • Reduce pain and inflammation

  • Increase blood flow

  • Improve joint stability

  • Inhibit improper muscle activity to promote proper muscle activity
